Installing Animation Files on your Hard Drive
By default the game animations are not installed on your hard drive. Under this type of installation the CD-ROM must remain in the drive while you are playing Wall Hanger. The option exists for you to transfer the animation files to your hard drive. It requires approx. 250 Mbytes of hard drive space but does improve performance. On the main game screen the option to install ==> HD will appear on the right hand side of the screen if you have 400 Mbytes of available disk space on drive C:. Once this have been completed the CD-ROM is not required to play and the option remove <== HD will appear. By selecting "remove" the animations will
be erased off the hard drive and the CD-ROM will again be required to play the game.

Playing the Game
Gear: Click on the gear category you wish to select gear from. A picture of the gear type selected will be displayed. Clicking on the up and down arrows will allow viewing of the different types of gear for the selected category. To select gear simply click on the gear image. Clicking toggles to 'selected' or will 'de-selected' the gear if it has been previously selected. After the maximum number of selections for a gear category have been made no more gear can be added until other(s) are de-selected. The maximums allowed are; weapon (1), calls (2), tags (2), scent (1), camo (1). Also, you can save and load your gear choices including your name by using the 'Load' and 'Save' buttons.

Shoot: The target range allows you to shoot your weapon and become familiar with accuracy and
trigger sensitivity. After four hits on any target area the 'New Targets' button will appear. At that point you are required to reload and have new targets posted, just click the 'New Targets' button. The 'Legend' button indicates the yardage to the various targets on the range. Effective range for archery is 40 yards, for black powder 125 yards, and high powered rifle 300 yards. You can right click on a specific target to view close up where the bullets or arrows hit.

Pro Staff Tips: Click on the various 'Tips' buttons for viewing hunting and equipment tips.

Scout: Enables you to preview your hunting area by flying through a 3 dimensional view of the
hunting area. Seven different flight paths will allow you to view the terrain from all different angles. A red line indicator will display on the inset map indicating your flight path.

Hunt: Presents a 3 dimensional topographic map of your hunting area. Also displayed are notes on the various types of terrain and recommended weapon use. There are some areas on the map that are inaccessible, hunting is not allowed in those areas. The map is registered to GPS coordinates as well. The coordinates will help you remember exact hunting spots if you wish to return to them for future hunts. Clicking on the map will place you into the wilderness. There are six different types of terrain and ten different hunting 'zones'. Remember the effective range of the weapon you have selected as it applies in realistic terms in the game. By moving your weapon to the left or right you can pan in either direction allowing for greater field of view for detecting elk and/or deer. The hunting area is inhabited with bulls, cow, bucks and does. You are allowed to shoot one animal and you must have a game tag for that animal. Typically, you will see numerous animals moving back and forth between feeding and bedding areas. Most of the observed animals will be ones which you do not have tags for. However, bulls can easily be called in as they are rutting. Bucks will follow does around and are generally on the move as well. To use your calls, click on the call image while hunting. The elk calls are effective when
calling to elk, they may either be ignored by deer or cause them to bolt. As you would expect deer calls are more suited for the whitetails. Elk will probably ignore them unless they are very close. Scent is automatically dispersed when you enter your hunting zone. The scents will increase the odds of you not being detected by either elk or deer. If the wind is blowing from your back side it is unlikely that you will see anything. The preferred camo is breakup but forest floor works equally well. All of the stands in the game are permanent and come with the hunting zone. One last note, if you wish to see deer and elk immediately without having to wait on 'natural' movements click on the bucks head.

Trophies: The top three bull elk and the top three whitetail bucks are placed in the trophy room. Scoring is based on antler points, the greater the total points the higher the animal is ranked. For animals with identical antler points, weight is used as a secondary measure. To view the elk trophies click on 'Bulls', click on 'Bucks' to view whitetail trophies. Be careful, 'Clear' will remove all trophies from the room. Following a successful hunt it will be determined whether your harvest is large enough to be placed in the trophy room.
